Aggie Athletics Coaching Staff
Wayne Stickney
Associate Athletic Director

Wayne Stickney serves as the Associate Athletic Director for Development at New Mexico State University. As a member of the Intercollegiate Athletics Senior Staff, Stickney wears several hats.

As the Chief Development Officer for Intercollegiate Athletics, Stickney is leading a change effort to reorganize fundraising for the department. The reorganization is focused on developing strategies that elevate giving to both scholarship and team specific areas. One highlight has been the creation of the A.D.s Cabinet. This group serves three purposes, which include each member contributing a minimum of $10,000 to the Aggie Athletic Club, providing input and feedback on issues affecting the Athletic Director, and enhancing major gift opportunities.

Stickney has influenced the strategic planning efforts at various levels of the department. Key projects and experiences include the Intercollegiate Athletics Senior Staff Retreat, Football Coaches Retreat, Women's Basketball Team Retreat, Cross Country Team Retreat, Ticketmaster Archtics adoption, implementation of Raiser's Edge, and fundraising website development.

Stickney serves as an ex-Officio administrator on the Sports Enterprises, Inc. Board of Directors and helps solicit and steward corporate partners in support of Aggie Athletics.

Stickney supervises two sport programs, which include the Equestrian and Cheer teams. The Equestrian Team placed in the top 10 programs in the country this past year. The team continually ranks high in academic performance. The Cheer Team placed 2nd at nationals and participates in over 80 engagements of the Las Cruces community each year.

Prior to joining the Aggie Family, Stickney worked for Long Beach State Athletics where he served in many roles, most recently as the Director of Development and Strategic Planning. Stickney earned a bachelor's degree in communication studies with a minor in mathematics and a master's degree in counseling and student development in higher education from CSU, Long Beach.
