LAS CRUCES, N.M.-The NM State track and field team heads to
Albuquerque for the fifth and final meet of the indoor season to compete in the
New Mexico Classic Saturday, Feb. 6.
The Aggies head back to the Albuquerque Convention Center
after a big showing on the longer track. Freshmen Samantha Thompson and
Courtney Schultz each broke the school record in their respective races.
Thompson breezed into the top spot of the mile list and
Schultz surpassed Hall of Fame inductee Rachael Cuellar's record time in the
3k. Schultz earned WAC Track Athlete of the Week for her efforts in
Albuquerque.
The Aggies are up against the largest group of athletes
they've met all season. Some of the competition for NM State includes
powerhouse Adams State, Air Force, Colorado State, Sacramento State, San Diego
State and Utah State.
Looking to continue breaking into the record books, Aggie
track and field will begin at the convention center at 9:00 a.m. Saturday.
