MORAGA, Calif.-Sophomore center Hamidu Rahman scored a career-high 22 points for the New Mexico State men’s basketball team but the Aggies fell at Saint Mary’s, 100-68, Friday, Nov. 13, at the McKeon Pavilion in Moraga, Calif.
Rahman led all scorers in the season opener and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Junior guar Jahmar Young recorded 16 points while senior guard Jonathan Gibson added 14.
In the first half, the Aggie offense was slow to find its rhythm and trailed 41-26 at the break. Young and Rahman led the Aggies with seven points each. Gibson added five points with NM State’s only 3-pointer of the first 20 minutes. The Aggies crashed the glass with an 18-13 rebounding advantage that included seven offensive boards but committed 11 turnovers.
The Aggies host in-state rival New Mexico in their home opener, Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. inside the Pan American Center.
