Swaschuto Cards 2-under in Final Round of Fall Season

KAHUKU, Hawai'i - The New Mexico State women's golf team carded its best round of the Turtle Bay Collegiate Invitational in Kahuku, Hawai'i, to finish 16th, Wednesday, Nov. 4.

The Aggies brought in a team score of 309 in day three, while playing on 6,361 yard, par 72 Arnold Palmer Course.  NM State carded a 310 and 324 in days one and two respectively on the 6,261 yard par 72 George Fazio Course totaling a 943.

UC Davis led throughout the tournament and took home the team trophy with a 9-over-par 868.  San Jose State was the best finisher to come out of the Western Athletic Conference finishing the three day tournament in sixth with an 899.

Southern California's Lizette Salas won the individual medal with an 8-under-par 208, as SJSU's Cristina Corpus tied for second with Amy Simanton of UC-Davis.

Junior Mint Swaschuto (Bangkok, Thailand) finished the fall season with a good round of 2-under-par 70.  She fired three birdies and fourteen pars to help her tie for 35th.  Swaschuto finished with a 13-over-par 229 (77-82-70).

Senior Maggie Murphy (Sioux Falls, S.D.) tied for 58th with an 18-over-par 234, while fellow Aggie Buz Bowerman-Ritchie (Oshawa, Ontario) finished with a 19-over-par 235 to tie for 61st.

Sophomore Gina Bortoletto (The Woodlands, Texas) shot a 31-over-par 247 (79-83-85) come in 90th and freshman Lindsay Reeve (Redmond, Ore.) finished 93rd with a 34-over-par 250 (84-83-83).

The Aggies will begin their spring schedule Feb. 8, 2010 at the Long Beach Tournament in Long Beach Calif..
