The New Mexico State men's golf team moved up one spot to fifth at the Turtle Bay College Invitational, Tuesday afternoon. The Aggies carded a team score o f 11-over par, 299 in the second round and are now 15-over par for the tournament.

"We don't have any under par scores on the score board in the first two rounds," head coach Scott Lieberwirth said. "It is frustrating to watch our guys play like they are because I know they score much better than they are. We have to have someone step and put together some solid rounds. Tomorrow with the course we are playing, we should see some more birdies."

On day two, the Aggies were led by junior Tim Madigan who carded a second round score of even par, 72. Madigan is now tied for 19th overall with a two round total of 4-over par, 148. Sophomore Gaston De La Torre recorded his second 2-over par, 74 of the tournament in round two. He sits at 4-over over, 148 as well, in a tie for 19th overall.

Senior Ryan Word slipped a little from his first round score of 1-under par, to shoot a 5-over par, 77 in round two. Word is tied for 19th overall, with Madigan and De La Torre, at 4-over par, 148. Freshman Justin Shin fired a 4-over par, 76 in round two, giving him a two round score of 6-over par, 150. Shin is tied for 34th overall going into the final round on Wednesday.

Freshman Derek Baade rounded out the Aggie competitors with an 8-over par, 80 in round two. Baade is tied for 39th overall with a two round score of 8-over par, 152.

San Diego State leads the tournament with a 12-under par team score, followed by Santa Clara (E), Illinois (+3) and Long Beach State (+3). Andrew Cooley of San Diego State leads the tournament as an individual at 6-under par.

The Aggies will be back for the final round of competition at the Turtle Bay College Invitational Wednesday morning, beginning at 7:30 a.m. (HT)
