Dominic Moreno is entering his seventh season as an assistant athletic trainer at New MexicoState after returning to Las Cruces in October 2007. He has been promoted to the Associate Athletic Trainer/Head Football athletic trainer. He now provides all medical coverage for the NMSU football program. Prior to this sports move in Fall 2011, he primarily worked with the Aggie men’s basketball team along with the men’s golf team.
Prior to his second stint in Las Cruces, Moreno was as an assistant athletic trainer at Central Arkansas. He handled the day-to-day athletic training responsibilities of the women’s basketball, track and field, men’s soccer and baseball teams. Moreno was also a clinical instructor that taught evaluation techniques for the upper extremities.
Moreno received his master’s degree in education from Incarnate Word in May 2006. While at UIW, he worked as an athletic training graduate assistant with the women’s soccer, swimming, synchronized swimming, men’s basketball and baseball teams. During his tenure, the women’s soccer team qualified for the 2005 NCAA Division II playoffs, and the baseball team competed in the NCAA Regional Championships in 2004 and 2006. In addition, the synchronized swimming team finished third at the NCAA National Championships in 2005 and 2006.
The Artesia, N.M., native received his bachelor’s degree in athletic training from NM State in 2003. While at NM State, he provided assistance at tournaments and practices to multiple Aggie teams. Moreno, his wife, Deanna and, son, Cillian Luke, reside in Las Cruces.
