LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State University will produce and distribute the first of at least 43 live athletic events on August 30th as the Aggies took on SE Louisiana in football. AggieVision, which is produced by the University's mobile production unit, will televise these events on Comcast Entertainment Television (Las Cruces channel 4), as well as several other entities.
Comcast affiliates in Las Cruces, Albuquerque, Gallup, and Santa Fe and Time Warner Cable in El Paso will carry each of these events, while Altitude Sports & Entertainment and FSN-Arizona will carry selected events. In most cases, these games will be carried live, but home football games will be tape delayed in Las Cruces. “This is a huge community effort, and Comcast Entertainment Television is proud to be part of this unique event,” John Christopher, VP/GM Comcast Cable Southern New Mexico said.
“AggieVision and our partnership with Comcast Cable and our other affiliates is a key component to our plan to advance the reach and scope of New Mexico State athletics,” said athletic director Dr. McKinley Boston. “Not only will AggieVision bring our events to more of our fans and alumni, but it will help our coaches in recruiting and increase the value of our brand to our current and future corporate partners.”
AggieVision will produce and distribute seven football games and five volleyball matches in the fall, including key matchups against rivals UTEP and New Mexico, as well as key WAC contests. Coupled with the four games being produced and distributed by ESPN properties and the one game being carried by MTN, at least 12 New Mexico State football games will be available on Comcast Entertainment Television in the 2007 season. The 12 total games and the four events being distributed by ESPN and its affiliates are the most ever for New Mexico State. The five volleyball matches also signal a record distribution. Also all games will be re-broadcast the next day at 2:00 p.m.
Men’s and women’s basketball will be featured during the winter with at least 15 men’s events and five women’s events on the schedule. At least six baseball and softball games will be televised in the spring.
