Aggies Drop 3-1 Decision at Loyola Marymount

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Loyola Marymount scored twice in the second half to break a 1-1 tie and upended New Mexico State, 3-1, Friday evening in the season openers for both teams.

The Aggies drew first blood at 12:47 in the first half when Jennae Cambra received a pass from Layla Todd on the right flank and headed it into the net to give NM State an early 1-0 advantage.

The Lions notched it at 1-all at 34:13 when Sydney Zuccolotto scored and at halftime the match was tied at 1-1.

At 58:38 in the second stanza LMU’s Callie Taylor received a corner kick in front of the goal and headed it home and the Lions took a 2-1 lead.

Less than one minute later Jill Farley scored to give the Lions a 3-1 lead.

The Lions outshot the Aggies by an 18-6 margin – including 8-2 in the second half.

Despite allowing three goals, goalkeeper Tayler Hammack made six saves and kept the Aggies in the game.

The Aggies return to action Sunday at 1 p.m. (MST) and host Texas State.
