SAN MARCOS, Texas—The New Mexico State track and field team wrapped up competition at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas on Saturday, March 29.
Junior Tiffany Gerber led the way for the Aggies in the javelin throw where she finished fourth with a throw of 41.86m (137’4”). She was joined by fellow junior Nicolette Serrao, who finished 10th with a throw of 38.33m (125’9”).
Freshman Akuadasou Ezenyilimba competed in the shot put where she finished with a throw of 11.94m (39’2.25”). She was joined by junior Alexandra Ecsedy who had a throw of 11.48m (37’8”) and freshman Alexandra Winebark who had a distance of 11.27m (36’11.75”)
In the 5000-meter run, junior Megan McNally led the Aggies with a fifth-place finish with a time of 10:22.60. Senior Sarabel Bojorquez finished eighth with a time of 10:29.43, and senior Gael Sanchez finished 10th with a time of 10:46.04.
The team of senior Alishia Perkins, junior Jenna Banegas, freshman Paige Patterson and junior Kendra Walker represented NM State in the 4x100-meter relay. The Aggies finished second with a time of 46:05.
Perkins and Banegas also earned top-10 finishes in the 200-meter dash. Perkins led the way with a fifth-place finish with a time of 24.38, and Banegas finished eighth with a time of 24.52. Patterson also competed in the 200-meter dash and finished 14th.
Sophomore Latrice Brooks earned a 10th-place finish in the 800-meter run and posted a time of 2:16.41. Junior Diana Hawk also competed in this race and finished 15th.
NM State will be back in action on April 5, when they travel to Lubbock, Texas to compete at the Texas Tech Open.
