NM State Menís Golf Finishes NIT with Strong Performance

Tucson, Ariz. – The New Mexico State men’s golf wrapped up play at the 2014 NIT Sunday afternoon, with an impressive 3-under par, 285 at the 7,094-yard, par 72, Omni Tucson National – Catalina Course. The Aggies finished the tournament in 12th overall with a three-round score of 12-over par, 876 (301-290-285).

Junior Brett Walker led the charge for NM State in the final round, carding a 4-under par, 68. He finished the tournament at 1-under par, 215 (75-72-68), placing tied for 23rd. Senior Willy Hogan was also under par in the final round, shooting a 2-under par, 70. He finished tied for 36th overall with a three-round score of 1-over par, 217 (75-72-70).

Junior Pat Beyhan was 3-over par, 75 in the final round and 4-over par, 220 (74-71-75) for the three-round tournament, finishing tied for 46th. Freshman Luis Medina shot his best score of the tournament on Sunday, an even par, 72, putting him at 8-over par, 224 (77-75-72) for the tournament, tying him for 62nd overall.

Sophomore Kenneth Fadke II shot 5-over par, 77 in the final round. He finished tied for 70th with a three-round score of 13-over par, 229 (77-75-77). Junior Joey Martinez, who played as an individual in the tournament, carded a final round of 3-over par, 75, placing 74th overall for the tournament at 15-over par, 231 (77-79-75).

California won the team title at 33-under par, followed by SMU (-18), Oklahoma State (-18), San Diego State (-13) and UNLV (-13).  Joel Stalter of California won the individual title at 11-under par.

The Aggies will be back in action March 21-23 at the Thunderbird Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz.
