ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The New Mexico State track and field team wrapped up its first competition of the season at the Lobo Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. on Saturday, Jan 18..
Senior Alishia Perkins competed in several different events on the day, including the 60-meter dash, where she finished third overall with a time of 7.67. Perkins also finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.83.
Freshman Paige Patterson was second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.32. She also competed in the 200-meter dash.
In her only event on the day, senior Zoe Meade took first place in her flight in the shot put with a throw of 12.37m (40’7”).
In the 800-meter run, sophomore Latrice Brooks finished first for the Aggies and posted a time of 2:19.17. She was followed by junior Diana Hawk who finished with a time of 2:19.30.
“This gives us a good indication of the things we need to do,” head coach Orin Richburg said. “Some of our frontline people need to step up and we as coaches got to go back and coach our athletes up. It’s a good indicator of what we need to work on.The Aggies head back to Albuquerque for the Cherry and Silver competition on Jan. 24-25.
