LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State volleyball team will step out of conference on Tuesday, Nov. 12, for a matchup against I-10 rival Texas-El Paso inside the Pan American Center.  The match, which is the only one for the Aggies this week, is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start and will have a live television broadcast by the AggieVision production team.

NM State is coming off a three-match sweep last week that extended its winning streak to seven games.  The Aggies only lost one set en route to winning the three Western Athletic Conference matches, defeating Grand Canyon in Phoenix, 3-0, before coming home and picking up wins over Missouri-Kansas City, 3-1, and Chicago State, 3-0.

NM State continues to lead the WAC with a 13-2 conference record.  The Aggies are 18-10 overall.  With its win against Chicago State on Saturday, NM State clinched at least a share of the regular-season conference title.

The Aggies find themselves 1.5 games in front of second place Utah Valley with one conference game remaining on their schedule.  The Wolverines have two conference games to play.  Utah Valley plays Bakersfield at home on Saturday, Nov. 16, before taking a trip to Las Cruces to face NM State on Thursday, Nov. 21, in both teams’ final match of the season.

UTEP comes to Las Cruces with a 13-11 overall record and sits at .500, 6-6, in Conference-USA play.  The Miners are coming off a road loss to North Texas in straight sets on Sunday, Nov. 10.

Last year the Aggies lost to UTEP in El Paso in a tough five-set match (22-25, 25-14, 15-25, 25-20, 15-11).  NM State won two of the first three sets, but the Miners came back to win the last two.  UTEP’s victory broke a 14-match winning streak for the Aggies versus the Miners.  Included in the streak was a NM State sweep the last time the rivals played in the Pan American Center.  The Aggies defeated UTEP, 26-24, 25-23, 25-18, in 2011.

NM State concludes its regular season next week with its showdown against Utah Valley in the Pan American Center.  That match is also slated for a television broadcast by AggieVision.  The Aggies will then head to Phoenix to defend their WAC Tournament crown.  The conference tournament is scheduled to begin on Monday, Nov. 25.
