Dover, Del. – The New Mexico State equestrian team wrapped up competition at Delaware State, with wins over Fresno State (6-5) and Sacred Heart (10-2), completing the sweep of the weekend, going 3-0 overall.

The No. 8 ranked Aggies move to 6-1 on the season, after collecting six of the Most Outstanding Player honors on Saturday.

“Overall it was a great weekend,” head coach Robin Morris-Walters said. “The team was prepared and rode solid.  We had many riders win Most Outstanding Player accolades and an overall win on the tournament.  We look forward to carrying the momentum for our home meets this weekend.”

Versus Fresno, Rianna Storey was named the Horsemanship MOP with a 74-70.5 win over Kirsten McKillop. Lauren DeVoe also won her head-to-head match-up 72-71 over Rio Haack. In Reining, Tara Wilson was the lone Aggie to earn a point, defeating McKillop, 71.5-71.

Emily McConnell won both her Equitation over Fences and Equitation on the Flat rides, earning MOP in the over fences event with an 82-63 win over Sarah Schroeder. She also defeated Schroeder in the flat event 56-45. Julie Frey also earned a point for the Aggies by defeating Hannah Flammang, 53-51.

Versus Sacred Heart, the Aggies sweep all the MOP honors, as McConnell was named MOP in Equitation over Fences, Julie Frey took MOP honors in Equitation on the Flat, Clarissa Edgerton won the MOP award in Horsemanship and Haley Newkirk was named the Reining MOP.

McConnell also earned a win over Alison Brosky, 56-52, in Equitation on Flat, while Shannon Dooley slid by Jocelyn Alfieri, 63-62 in Equitation over Fence.

The Aggies sweep the Western events against Sacred Heart, as both Storey and DeVoe won their head-to-head match-ups in Horsemanship, while Wilson and Brynn Larson both won in Reining.
