NM State Equestrian defeats Delaware State

Dover, Del. – The No. 8 ranked New Mexico State equestrian team defeated Delaware State on raw score 888.5-880 Friday afternoon. The Aggies won the Western competition 4-2, while dropping the Hunter Seat competition 4-2.

NM State recorded three Most Outstanding Players on the day, two in Western and one in Hunter Seat.

In Equitation on the Flat Hannah Swarthout was named MOP after beating Hayley Jeske of DSU 72-70, while Emily McConnell beat Heather Hotz 75-70. The Equitation over Fences team did not win a head-to-head match-up on the day.

In Horsemanship, Clarissa Edgerton handled Alaina Halter of DSU, 72.5- 69.5, earning MOP honors, as Rianna Storey defeated Brooks Moore 72-71. The Reining team was led by Tara Wilson, who was named MOP after beating Darbey Mailhot, 71-69. Veteran Brynn Larson defeated Alexis Gratkowski, 71-68.5, grabbing the final point for the Aggies in the Reining competition.  

The Aggies will take on Fresno State and Sacred Heart on Saturday to round out the weekend. Check back at NMStateSports.com for results on the day’s events.
