NM State Aggies vs. Abilene Christian Wildcats

Head Coach Doug Martin

Have you ever been involved in such a crazy ending game?

“That was an all-timer. Our kids battled no matter what. We didn’t have to make it that hard. My hair will never grow back now.”

Talk about how your team fought all game.

“We played hard but we still have a lot of work to do talent wise especially. With the team we played tonight, you can see why we changed our recruiting base to Texas—this is a talented football team. Our boys are battling. We haven’t given up. We played hard and I’m proud of them for the character they have shown.”

How about Germi Morrison’s performance after Bentancourt went down after his injury?

"Germi was also banged up a couple times but kept going in. He has a lot of heart. Bentancourt has a lot of heart. There are a lot of kids that are giving everything they have, we just have to play a little smarter sometimes.”

Austin Franklin had a career high of nine receptions tonight, how important is it for him to get into the offense for that to roll?

“It’s big because at this point, we don’t have that many play makers, guys that make things happen—he is one of the guys that can do that.”

What do you do to keep this momentum going forward for the rest of the year?

“We have to win as a team. We aren’t strong enough to win offensively or defensively so there isn’t much margin for error for us. We have to get great quarterback plays, we have to take care of the football and our defense has to cause turnovers. That is the only way we can win this year.”
