Aggies Complete Second Day of NCAA Regional Round
AUSTIN, Texas—After a rain delay that lasted several hours, the NM State track and field team completed the second day of the 2013 NCAA Regional Round in Austin, Texas on Friday, May 24.
Senior LaSasha Aldredge and juniors Brianna Cromartie and Alishia Perkins competed in the preliminary round of the 200-meter dash.
Aldredge ran in the second heat and finished fifth with a time of 24.27. Perkins finished the 200-meter dash in the fifth heat with a time of 24.29. Cromartie competed in the sixth heat and finished with a time of 24.36. The three Aggie sprinters did not qualify for the semi-final round.
Aldredge and Cromartie also took part in the semi-final round of the 400-meter dash, where Cromartie ran in the second heat and posted a time of 55.67. Aldredge ran in the third heat and finished with a time of 53.55. Neither runner qualified for NCAA Final Round.
Aldredge ends her career as an Aggie at this year’s NCAA Regional Round. She leaves NM State as the all-time leader in the 400-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay.
Competition wraps up Saturday, May 25, with senior Kelsey Brenann competing in the preliminary round of the javelin throw.
