LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State baseball team bounced back and run-ruled UT- Arlington 11-1 in seven innings at Presley Askew Field, Saturday, April 27.  The Aggies are now 24-20 on the year and 9-8 in Western Athletic Conference play.  UTA falls to 23-20 and 11-6 in conference play.

Senior starter Ryan Beck threw a complete-game three hitter as he allowed just one run to go along with eight strikeouts. This is the second time this season Beck has posted at least 8 K’s in a game after he tallied 10 strikeouts against Alabama A&M on March 16. Beck also has 67 strikeouts on the year and 289 on his career, placing him just one strikeout behind former Aggie Jaime Mendes (1992-95) for the No. 2 spot on the all-time strikeout list at NM State.  He is now No. 3 on the all-time list at NM State with 24 career wins.

The Aggie offense got off the a great start, posting four runs in the first inning, which included a three-run home run over the left-centerfield wall from senior Bobby Lecount.  He finished the evening going 2-of-5 at the dish with five RBIs and a double.  Lecount now has a team-high nine homers on the year and has marked five RBIs in a game twice.

After Beck sat down the Mavericks in order in the top of the second, junior Quinnton Mack and senior Parker Hipp each tallied an RBI single in the bottom of the inning to give NM State a 6-0 cushion.  Both teams were held scoreless in the third and each team crossed the plate once in the fourth to take the score to 7-1.

NM State blew the game open in the fifth inning with freshman Kent Blackstone starting the inning with a lead-off walk and a stolen base before scoring.  Rust finished the four-run sixth with a two-RBI single up the middle.  The Aggies went into the seventh with an 11-1 lead as the Mavericks went down 1-2-3 in the inning.

The Aggies and UTA play the rubber-match, Sunday, April 28 at 1:05 p.m. (MT) at Presley Askew Field.  Listen to the action on the radio in Las Cruces on KSNM AM 570. Live stats are available online at www.NMStateSports.com.
