WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The New Mexico State baseball team fell 14-1 to Wake Forest in game two of a three-game series, Saturday, March 2 on Deacon Field. The Aggies fall to 3-8 on the year and the Demon Deacons are now 9-3 after today's win.
Starting pitcher Michael Ormseth fell to 0-2 on the year after he struggled lasting on two-thirds of an inning, tallying two strikeouts. The Aggies used five pitchers on the afternoon marking a total of six K's compared to Wake Forest using three as they combined for three strikeouts as well.
It was a rough start for NM State as the Demon Deacons sent 13 batters to the plate, scoring eight runs on six hits and an error. The Aggies would try to dig out of that hole but score only one run in the top of the third as the first two batters that came to the plate that inning got on with walks.
NM State finished the day with one run on four hits and committed two errors, while the Demon Deacons tallied their 14 runs on 17 hits and did not allow an error. The Aggies will wrap up their eight-game road trip with a game against Wake Forest at 11:00 a.m. (MT) as senior lefty, Ryan Beck makes his first start of the season. Fans can catch the action on KNSM AM 570 with the game joining-in-progress at 12:00 p.m. (MT) in Las Cruces.
