Aggie Swimming and Diving Beats Oregon State

TUCSON, Ariz. (Jan. 4)-The New Mexico State swimming and diving team opened the spring semester with a double dual in Tucson, Ariz. The Aggies defeated Oregon State, 148-142, but fell to meet host Arizona, 221-76.

The Aggies began the meet with a third-place finish in the 200-medley relay with junior Tricia Kiss, sophomore Jessica Legge, freshman Dorottya Lennert and senior Alex Fenton.

Lennert guided the Aggies in the butterfly events. She finished in fifth place in the 100 fly and sixth place in the 200 fly.

In the backstroke events, Kiss paced the squad with a third-place showing in the 200 back and sixth-place finish in the 100 back, while freshman Mariah Morrell followed in fifth in the 200 and seventh in the 100. In the breaststroke, Legge posted team-best finishes with sixth place in the 100 and fourth place in the 200. Additionally, Legge led the Aggies in the 200 IM in sixth, and Kiss was eighth.

Junior Terrin Seaver set the standard for the Crimson and White in the sprint freestyle events with seventh in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 free along with a sixth-place showing in the 100 fly. Fenton also helped the team in seventh in the 100 free and sixth in the 200 free.

In the distance freestyle events, freshman Emily Nightingale earned sixth in the 1,000 free, and senior Haley Gansneder was ninth in the 500 free.

Junior diver Jaymee Porter led the Aggies with a fifth-place finish on the 3-meter springboard and sixth-place finish on the 1-meter.
