LAS CRUCES, N.M.-The New Mexico State University cross country teams will head to Fort Collins, Colo., for the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships.
The Aggies will be facing regional opponents that ranked at the national level. On the men's side, Colorado is ranked first in the Mountain Region and second nationally. BYU is ranked second in the region and seventh nationally. UNM is ranked third in the region and 16th nationally. Northern Arizona is ranked fourth in the region and 18th nationally.
On the women's side, Weber State is ranked first in the Mountain Region and 13th nationally. UNM is ranked second in the region and 17th nationally. Colorado is ranked third in the region and 24th nationally.
Last year, the men's team finished 12th and the women's team finished 10th. Junior Kevin Palmer led the Aggies in the men's event by finishing first for NM State and 36th overall with a time of 31:34.5 in the 10k. In the women's event, senior Courtney Schultz finishes first for NM State and eighth overall with a time of 21:09.8 in the 6k.
Any Aggies who qualify for the NCAA Championships will compete on Saturday, Nov. 17, in Louisville, Ky.
