LAS CRUCES, N.M. (Oct. 4)-The New Mexico State swimming and diving team held its annual Crimson and White intrasquad meet with the White team beating the Crimson team, 53-42, Oct. 3.
"We had a fun afternoon, and I am very proud of our efforts," head coach Rick Pratt said. "We certainly did not set them up for success with the training we've been doing lately."
The White team swept the relay events and captured top honors in the 200-medley relay and 200-free relay.
For the Crimson crew, senior Alex Fenton and sophomore Jessica Legge paced the squad with a pair of individual wins. Fenton won the 100 free and 200 free, while Legge finished in first place in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke.
Junior Tricia Kiss collected a win in the 100 back for the White team. The Aggie freshmen also helped the White squad with Nicole Brennecke winning the 500 free, Dorottya Lennert winning the 100 butterfly, and Chelsey Reber winning the 50 free. On the 1-meter springboard, freshman Lauren Reifel earned top marks.
"The team did a great job encouraging each other, and that is the most important thing," Pratt said. "To swim three events in less than 45 minutes is challenging, and despite that, we had some solid times for right now. Our captains did a great job and really led the way."
The Aggies open the regular season at home, when they host Air Force, Oct. 13 at 11:30 a.m. at the NM State Natatorium.
