NM State Men's Golf Finishes Seventh at NCAA Southwest Regional

San Diego, Calif. - The New Mexico State men's golf team ended its 2009-10 season with a seventh place finish at the 2010 NCAA Southwest Regional in San Diego, Calif., at the Carlton Oaks Golf Club. The Aggies shot a final round score of 9-over par, 297, finishing the tournament with a three round score of 31-over par, 895.

The Aggies' Tim Madigan led the team with a three round score of 4-over par, 220, finishing in a tie for 11th overall. Madigan carded a final round score of 2-over par, 74. Senior Ryan Word ended his collegiate career with a final round score of 4-over par, 76. Word finished tied for 33rd at 9-over par, 225.

Freshman Justin Shin rounded out his first season as an Aggie tying for 45th overall with a final score of 11-over par, 227. Shin recorded a 4-over par, 76 in the final round. Sophomore Gaston De La Torre had the low round of the day for the Aggies with a 1-under par, 71, finishing the tournament in a tie for 54th with a three round score of 14-over par, 230.

Freshman Justin Knauber ended his freshman campaign by finishing 71st overall with a three round score of 24-over par, 240. Knauber carded a final round score of 13-over par, 85.

Oregon won the team title with a 6-over par, 870, followed by Augusta State (+16), California (+22), Tennessee (+22) and UNLV (+22). Nick Delio of CSU-Northridge won the individual title at 3-under par, 213.
