LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State football team completed fall camp practice No. 5, Tuesday, Aug. 5 on the football practice field on the campus of NM State. Today’s practice was the first practice in full pads and there were plenty of hard hits and exciting plays made.
Head coach Doug Martin is pleased with the progress of his team but knows that there is always room to learn more and improve. Today’s practice was the first time the sun and heat were present as cloud cover helped the Aggies stay cool in the first four days of camp. The offensive and defensive lines battled in the trenches with full pads on and the coaches are starting to see that they will have some depth in those areas.
NM State is still in the NCAA mandatory five-day acclimation period. The Aggies have their first two-a-day, Wednesday, Aug. 6, with the first practice scheduled at 9 a.m. (MT) and the second slated to start at 3 p.m. (MT).
The 2014 NM State football season opens up on Thursday, Aug. 28 against Cal Poly University in Aggie Memorial Stadium. Season tickets can be purchased by calling 575-646-1420 or by going online to www.NMStateSports.com.
