LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Two weeks after competing in Mesa, Ariz., the New Mexico State women’s golf team returns to the Grand Canyon State, this time to Tucson, to compete in the three-round Mountain View Collegiate co-hosted by Kansas State and Missouri, March 28-29.
The first two 18-hole rounds of the tournament will be played on Friday, March 28, at the par-72, 6,227-yards Mountain View Golf Club while the final 18 holes are scheduled for Saturday, March, 29. Both days will begin with a 9 a.m. (MDT) shotgun start.
There will be a total of 15 teams participating in the Mountain View Collegiate. Joining NM State and hosts Kansas State and Missouri are: Nebraska, Tulsa, Kent State, Wyoming, Northern Arizona, Portland State, Colorado State, BYU, Minnesota, Gonzaga, Arkansas State and Redlands Community College.
Youth will be served in the Arizona desert for the Aggies as the squad will not take an upperclassman. The five-golfer NM State team will consist of freshmen Camille Orito, Valeria Macias and Kristen Cline and sophomores Kacey Dalpes and Viviana Macias.
Dalpes and Valeria Macias will be making their eighth appearance in a tournament as they both have participated in every tournament this season. Dalpes has the low round of the season for the Aggies, a 2-under 70, while Macias has the best finish, a third-place finish at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational.
Valeria’s older sister, Viviana, has only missed one tournament on the season and has NM State’s best average score among golfers with at least two tournaments, a 76.28 average per round. Orito, meanwhile, will be competing in her third-consecutive tournament and fifth overall. Cline is making her spring debut. She did play in one tournament during the fall schedule.
This will be the 16th year of the Mountain View Collegiate, but the first time that the Aggies will be part of the tournament. Team and individual results plus a full recap will be available at NMStateSports.com after each day’s final hole.
