LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women’s swimming and diving team opens its home schedule on Saturday, Nov. 2, with a Western Athletic Conference dual meet against Northern Colorado at the NM State Natatorium. The meet is scheduled for an 11:30 a.m. start and is free to the public.
The Aggies are coming off a 191-103 defeat during their season opener to the Air Force Academy on Oct. 25 in Colorado Springs. The loss left NM State eager to get back in the pool.
“Our team has already rebounded from last week’s trip to Colorado and our energy and work this week has been amazing,” head coach Rick Pratt said. “It will be great to race at home and we’re looking forward to getting better.”
Northern Colorado is embarking on a New Mexico road trip as they will face the New Mexico Lobos on Thursday evening before heading south to Las Cruces. The Bears come to the Land of Enchantment with a 1-1 dual meet record. UNC lost a conference meet to Idaho before defeating Nebraska-Omaha in its most recent meet.
“UNC is a much-improved team with some new swimmers that are making a huge impact on their program and some returning swimmers who are swimming really fast,” Pratt said. “It should be an interesting lineup and will create a great experience for our squad.”
The meet is scheduled to have a total of 16 events, including 12 individual swimming events, two relays and two diving events. For a recap of all individual and team results log on to NMStateSports.com after the meet.
