Aggies Compete in Rim Rock Classic

LAWRENCE, Kan.—The NM State cross country competed in the Rim Rock Collegiate Classic in Lawrence, Kan., on Saturday. Both the men and women finished fourth in the meet.

The women competed in a field of 66 runners from Michigan, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska-Omaha and UMKC in the 6K run. The team was paced by junior Diana Hawk, who finished 17th overall with a time of 22:31.89.

Junior Megan McNally finished 19th with a time of 22:33.23. Senior Sarabel Bojorquez finished 24th with a time of 23:01.78.

The women’s team finished fourth with a score of 113 points. Michigan took first, followed by Kansas and Kansas State, NM State, Nebraska-Omaha and UMKC.

On the men’s side, the Aggies competed against 46 runners from Kansas, Kansas State, Rice and UMKC in the 8K run.

Junior Hab Rubio led the Aggies with a 16th-place finish at a time of 25:49.17. This is the first time that Rubio has finished first for the Aggies.

Junior Nathan Starr finished 20th with a time of 26:11.29. He was followed closely by junior Evan Bekes, who finished 22nd with a time of 26:19.52.

The men finished in fourth place with 109 points. Kansas won the men’s event and were followed by Rice, Kansas State, NM State and UMKC.

The Aggies will have a week off before traveling to Sunnyvale, Calif., for the Santa Clara Invitational on Oct. 19.
