LAS CRUCES, N.M.—The New Mexico State cross country team travels to Lawrence Kan., to compete in the Rim Rock Collegiate Classic on Saturday, Oct. 5.

The Aggies head to the Rim Rock Classic after hosting a successful Kachina Classic on Sept. 28.

The women’s team took first place in the team competition, and also swept the top three spots individually at the Kachina Classic.

Junior Diana Hawk led the women’s team and finished first overall with a time of 19:11.90, which marks a season-best time for her in the 5K event.

Hawk was named the WAC Female Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Kachina Classic last week.

She was followed by junior Megan McNally, who finished with a time of 19:26.85, which is also a season-best for her. Seniors Sarabel Bojorquez, Christiana Barela and Gael Sanchez also finished in the top 10 in the last race.

This is the third consecutive race that the women’s team has won, and the fourth consecutive race that Hawk has finished first overall.

On the men’s side, junior Nathan Starr continues to lead the Aggies and finished fourth overall at the Kachina Classic. Starr has paced the team in all four races this season.

Juniors Hab Rubio and Erick Perez continue to improve as the season progresses and both finished in the top 10 in the last meet.

After the Rim Rock Classic, the Aggies will have a week off to prepare for the Santa Clara Invitational in Sunnyvale, Calif., on Oct. 19.
