LAS CRUCES, N.M.—The New Mexico State cross country team travels to Albuquerque, N.M., to compete in the Lobo Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 7.
The Aggies opened up competition with the Lobo Invitational last year, where they finished first and second individually in the women’s 5K run.
The Aggies look to junior Diana Hawk and senior Gael Sanchez, who competed last year and finished 13th and 16th, respectively, to lead this year’s team. Hawk finished with a time of 19:54.7 and Sanchez finished with a time of 20:13.9.
Junior transfer Megan McNally looks to continue to find success as she finished fourth overall at the Texas Tech/New Mexico State Dual, (Aug. 30) in her first competition for the Aggies.
Last year, the men’s team also did well individually, as it placed five runners in the top 20. This year, the men’s team will rely on sophomore Christopher Silva. The Aggies also lean on junior transfer Nathan Starr and junior Evan Bekes, who finished sixth and ninth, respectively, in the season opener.
After the Lobo Invitational, the Aggies will travel to Horizon City, Texas, for the Lori Fitzgerald Invitational on Friday, Sept. 13.
