LAS CRUCES, N.M.-Junior Brianna Cromartie of the New Mexico State University track and field team was named the Western Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 21-27.
Cromartie, a junior transfer from Arizona Community College, set a new school record in the 200m when she ran a time of 24.29 to place second overall in the event. Cromartie's time in the 200m is currently the top mark in the conference for the event. Cromartie also helped her 4x400m team set another all-time school record when the team finished second overall with a time of 3:45.97. This time also sits atop the charts in the conference for the event. Cromartie also placed second overall in the 400m with a time of 55.18 to sit at second all-time in the NM State record books. This time is also tops in the conference for the event.
Cromartie joins fellow junior Alishia Perkins as a pair of Aggies who were named WAC Athlete of the Week for the indoor track and field season. Perkins was named WAC Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 7-13 to open up the indoor track and field season.
The Aggies will travel to Albuquerque, N.M., for the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, scheduled for Friday, Feb. 1.
