LAS CRUCES, N.M. (Jan. 23)-The New Mexico State men's basketball team beat Denver, 53-42, to extended its winning streak to seven games. The Aggies improved to 13-8 and 7-2 in the WAC, and they halted the Pioneers' win streak at seven games (11-8, 7-2). The win marked the Crimson and White's longest win streak since the 2006-07 season.

The Aggies had three players in double figures with senior forward Tyrone Watson leading the way with 12 points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Daniel Mullings added 11 points and eight rebounds, while senior forward Bandja Sy supplied 10 points and eight rebounds.

The Crimson and White defense harassed Denver and held the Pioneers to 3-of-18 shooting from the 3-point line (13.7 percent). Denver averaged a league-best 8.39 3-pointers per game entering the contest.

The Aggies sported a 29-22 halftime lead behind seven points from Mullings. Junior guard Kevin Aronis added six points off the bench on a 2-of-3 performance from the 3-point line.

As a team, NM State was 3-of-7 from beyond the arc, while it held the Pioneers to a 0-of-8 showing in the first half.

The Aggie defense continued to swarm in the second half and held Denver without a field goal for 11 minutes. In that span, NM State used a 13-1 run to take a 17-point advantage, 47-30, with 4:43 remaining.

The Aggies have the weekend off and then hit the road for a pair of games at Texas State, Jan. 31, and UTSA, Feb. 2 to start the second round of WAC games.
