Aggies Ready for UTEP Invitational

LAS CRUCES, N.M.-The New Mexico State University track and field team will travel to El Paso, Texas, for the UTEP invitational on Saturday, April 14. 

This is will be the second trip to UTEP for NM State during this outdoor season.  The Aggies competed in the UTEP Springtime Invitational on Saturday, March 24.  At the meet, junior LaSasha set a new school record in the 400m with a time of 54.17 and was named the Western Athletic Conference track Athlete of the Week for her efforts at the meet.

Five different Aggies finished in second place overall at the meet.  The Aggies also improved upon two school records in the 4x100m relay and the 4x400m relay.

"This is the point in the season where we will start putting our players in the best areas where they will have the most impact at the conference meet," said head track and field coach Orin Richburg.

The Aggies will be facing strong teams from around the country at the meet.  Some of the highlighted teams at the event will be the Arkansas, Kansas State, Rice University, Boise State, and New Mexico.  Overall there will be 10 teams competing in the meet.

The meet will open up with the women's hammer throw at 10 a.m.
