32 Ayssa Vargas
High School: Vargas was a four-year letterwinner in the infield for Mesquite High School in Gilbert, Ariz. She earned second team all-state honors as a senior after claiming first team all-region recognition the previous two seasons and second team all-region accolades as a freshman. In her final season she posted personal bests with an .807 slugging percentage and .559 on-base mark. During her career, she primarily played at first base under head coach Jeff Shufelt. As a junior, she earned First Team All-Region honors for the third straight season as well as her third consecutive All-State selection in 2010. During her sophomore season Vargas set the single-season school record at Mesquite for home runs with 11. Additionally, she received First Team All-Region honors and All-State recognition. During her first year on varsity, Vargas also claimed those same honors as a freshman. She also played volleyball during her freshman year. In the offseason, Vargas played with the Arizona Killer Bees travel team. In the classroom Vargas attained district honors awards in both 2007 and 2008. She also donated time for charity fundraisers including Feed the Children and breast cancer walks.

Personal: Vargas was born in Chandler Ariz., where she lived with mother Elena Vargas and step-father Rick Tadrick. She plans to major in kinesiology.
