14 Brittany Clifton
Redshirt Junior (2011): Clifton was the starting catcher for much of the record-setting 2011 season. At the NCAA Regional, Clifton helped call the game behind the plate for Alex Newman's no-hitter against Texas Tech on May 20, resulting in the Aggies' first NCAA tournament victory in their tourney debut. She played in 44 games and started 39, all behind the plate. She hit .194 during the season with a slugging percentage of .215 and on-base percentage of .315. She recorded 154 putouts and 11 assists on defense. Her best offensive performance came against San Jose State on March 25 when she collected two hits and a pair of RBI against the Spartans in a one-run victory.

Redshirt Sophomore (2010): Clifton returned to the field for a full season in 2010 after missing all but a few games of the 2009 campaign. Her numbers were similar to those of her first full season as a freshman. Clifton played catcher with 38 starts in 43 games. She matched her career high of 28 hits that included a personal best five home runs. Clifton hit .267 on the year with a slugging percentage of .438 and on-base mark of .369. She retired 164 opponents and assisted on 20 more outs from behind the plate. Clifton made her mark with a pair of home runs against Penn State to begin the season on Feb. 13.

Sophomore (2009): Clifton started six games at catcher until she fell victim to a season-ending injury. In her half dozen games of action, she went 5-for-13 in the box, had three RBIs, a double, one home run and scored four runs.

Freshman (2008): Clifton was named to the 2008 Academic All-WAC Transfer/Freshman Team in a year in which she led the WAC with six runners picked-off and registered 215 putouts on the year. She played in 51 games and started 44 of them as the NM State's primary catcher. She hit .239 on they year with five doubles, a pair of home runs, had 12 runs batted in and scored 12 runs herself. She had a strong outing during the Troy Cox Classic, Feb. 22-24, going 5-for-8 in the box while hitting her first career home run and she scored three runs and had four RBIs. In the Aggies' 2-0 victory over Loyola Marymount, March 20, she scored one run and drove in the second from a line-drive up the middle. Against San Jose State, April 25, Clifton went 3-for-3 at the dish while she scored a run and had an RBI in the Aggies' 4-0 win.

High School: Clifton is a 2007 graduate of Royal High School where she helped the Highlanders to three straight Marmonte League Championships. Earning numerous all-tournament awards throughout her career, she was also named the Royal High School Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year twice. She led the team in RBIs (22) and home runs (three) her junior season and has hit above .300 for her entire career. She earned All-Maramonte League honors her sophomore and junior seasons and helped the Highlanders to the CIF-SS Division I Championships as a sophomore and to the quarterfinals as a freshman.

Personal: Clifton is the daughter of Stephen and Monica Clifton. She is a geography major.
