College Station, Texas - The New Mexico State equestrian team fell to Texas A&M Saturday afternoon, 18-2 at the Brazos County Expo Complex.

Both the Hunter Seat and Western teams fell 9-1 in their respective disciplines to Texas A&M. The Aggies are now 4-5 on the season.

"We knew that Texas A&M was a very tough team and that today's competition was going to be against some of the best riders in the nation," head coach Andrea Hanson said. "Despite the score we were pleased with the way both the Hunter Seat and Western teams rode. This competition was invaluable experience for us for nationals."

The Aggies were shut out in the Equitation over Fences competition, 5-0 and fell 4-1 in Equitation on the Flat. Jennifer Friend would be the lone Aggie to score for NM State on the day with an 81 to 80 win over Brittney Dobson, in the Equitation on the Flat competition.

In the Western competition, NM State fell 5-0 in the Horsemanship discipline and 4-1 in Reining. Rebecca McReynolds would grab the point for the Aggies on the day in Reining with a 67.5 to 66.6 win over Texas A&M's Randi Standley.
