BOULDER CITY, Nev.  - New Mexico State women's golf struggled in day two of the UNLV Spring Invitational finishing in a tie for 16^th at the Boulder Creek Golf Club, Tuesday, March 9.

After carding a 300 on day one, NM State posted a 316 on the par-72, 6,246 yard course to finish the day in a tie for 16^th with Washington State.  Host team UNLV leads the 18-team field with a 567 after carding a 281 and a 286 in rounds one and two respectively.  Western Athletic Conference foe Idaho is currently in third, one stroke behind second-place Baylor.

"There are some tough teams in this tournament and we struggled a little today," head coach Paul Brilliant said.  "We wrap up the tournament tomorrow and look to improve and finish strong."

Idaho's Kayla Mortellaro leads the entire field with 138 after she carded a 7-under-par 65 on day one and a 1-over-par 73 on day two.  NM State's junior Suteera Chanachai (Bangkok, Thailand) is still the leader for the team as she is in a tie for 39^th, bringing in a two-day score of 151.  Senior Maggie Murphy (Sioux Falls, S.D.) is tied for 52^nd after round-two only two stokes behind Chanachai.

Junior Apinporn Swaschuto (Bangkok, Thailand) improved her play by one stroke from round one carding a 6-over-par 78 on Tuesday.  Sophomore Gina Bortoletto (The Woodlands, Texas) did even better improving her play by three strokes from the previous round.  She also scored a 6-over-par 78 in the second round.  Sophomore Ashley Elias (El Paso, Texas) is now tied for 80^th with Bortoletto with a two-round score of 159.

The Aggies play in the final round of the UNLV Spring Invitational, Wednesday, March 10 with tee-times starting at 8:00 a.m. (MT).
